Who decides whether to repair or replace?
Karl will either replace the agreed insurance sum (in case of theft or total loss) or the repair costs, if a repair is possible and makes sense, but not more than the agreed insurance value in the policy. The payout always goes directly to the Karl partner, who then hands you a new equivalent bicycle or e-bike, or who carries out the repair. The decision on how we compensate you for the damage is up to us, but we ensure that you actually receive an equivalent item.
In the event of a total loss, you have 100% of the insurance value in the policy as credit available in the first year after conclusion, 80% of the insurance value in the policy in the second year after conclusion, and from the third year after conclusion, 70% of the insurance value in the policy.
However, this only applies to the case of total loss. If, for example, you damage your fork in a fall in the third year after conclusion and it needs to be replaced, you will receive the full value replaced. The same applies to all partial damages. Up to the maximum sum (depending on which year the damage occurs, therefore 100%/80%/70% of the insurance value in the policy), all damages are completely covered by Karl.
