What is counted
Thefts reported to the police. A theft nobody reports is missing from the statistics.
How the counter works
It spreads a year's thefts evenly across its days and counts along from 1 January. From 2026, it uses the figure for 2025.
The cities
We have their own figures from 2023 to 2025; for Linz in 2025 only the thefts per 10,000 residents, from which we estimate the count. We estimate earlier years from their share of all of Austria.

What you can do.

  • Lock it well

    Always to a fixed object, with a U-lock, folding lock or chain lock. Cable and spiral locks are quickly cut.
