- What is counted
- Thefts reported to the police. A theft nobody reports is missing from the statistics.
- How the counter works
- It spreads a year's thefts evenly across its days and counts along from 1 January. From 2026, it uses the figure for 2025.
- The cities
- We have their own figures from 2023 to 2025; for Linz in 2025 only the thefts per 10,000 residents, from which we estimate the count. We estimate earlier years from their share of all of Austria.

Always to a fixed object, with a U-lock, folding lock or chain lock. Cable and spiral locks are quickly cut.
