Used bike

Bought used.Insured just as well.

Whether from a shop, a marketplace or a friend: Karl insures your bike for the price you paid. With the same cover as a new one.

In short

  • Your purchase price is insured

What you paid for your bike is your sum insured. Not what it cost new back then.

  • A proof of purchase is enough

A purchase contract or an invoice from the seller. You don't need the receipt from when the bike was first sold.

  • The same cover as new

Theft, crashes and vandalism, worldwide and with no excess. Your bike's age doesn't matter, its condition does.

Anything that was already broken before your cover starts isn't insured. That's why you confirm your bike's condition when you sign up.

Out.

What matters most for a used bike. Every exclusion is in the terms.

  • Old damage

Defects and damage that existed before your cover started, and their getting worse. That's why you confirm your bike's condition when you sign up.

  • Wear and ageing

Wear, ageing, rust and corrosion, such as worn-out tyres or a battery that fades over the years. Anything that breaks suddenly is covered.

  • Scratches

Scuffs, scratches, dents and other cosmetic marks, as long as your bike works normally.

  • Warranty

Damage the manufacturer or seller is liable for, such as a defect the shop has to fix.

  • Unsecured theft

Theft when your bike wasn't locked to a fixed object with a suitable lock. Cable and spiral locks don't count.

  • Workshop

Damage from repairs, maintenance, restoration or cleaning, and the cost of servicing and care.

  • Losing it

Simply losing your bike, misplacing it or leaving it somewhere.

The exact wording is in our insurance terms.
