A good lock protects your bike — and is a requirement for insurance coverage. Together with our partner ABUS, we'll show you which lock type suits you best.
Lock types
The classic with the highest break-in protection. Compact shackle made of hardened steel — ideal for city riders who secure their bike to fixed objects.
Rigid links that fold up like a carpenter's rule. Compact to carry, flexible when locking — a good compromise between security and convenience.
Hardened steel links offer maximum flexibility when locking. Well suited for large frames, cargo bikes or when you want to secure your bike to wider objects.
Steel cable with overlapping steel sleeves as armor. Lightweight and flexible — a great addition to a main lock or for areas with lower theft risk.

Good to know
For high-end e-bikes and cargo bikes, there's hardly a more secure lock: The GRANIT Super Extreme 2500 achieves the highest ABUS security level of 15 out of 15 and was specifically designed to withstand even angle grinder attacks.
The parabolic shackle is made of hardened special steel with a coating of tungsten carbide — the second hardest material after diamond. The XPlus cylinder provides reliable protection against picking and manipulation, while Power Cell technology offers maximum protection against impact and leverage attacks.
At around 2.25 kg, the lock isn't lightweight — but for e-bikes and expensive bikes that are often parked in public spaces, this protection is worth the investment.

For your theft protection with Karl to apply, your bike lock must reach at least ABUS security level 6 (or an equivalent product from another manufacturer). Karl may request proof of purchase for the lock.
All five ABUS locks in our comparison meet this requirement. If you want to be extra safe: the higher the security level, the better the protection — and the more peace of mind you'll have when locking up your bike.
Tip: You can include your lock in your Karl insurance. If it's damaged or stolen during a covered theft, it's included in your coverage.
